Strategic Operations International (SOI) is the professional training arm of Modern Defensive Tactics Australia (MDTA). While MDTA continues to serve the general public, all law enforcement, special operations, government, corporate, security, and community services training is now delivered under the SOI banner.

This change reflects our ongoing evolution and growth but the training itself remains exactly the same: cutting edge, operationally tested, and continually refined to meet the realities of modern environments.

Our Heritage - Built on the MDTA Legacy

Founded under Modern Defensive Tactics Australia, our training systems were developed to provide practical, adaptable, and realistic skills for those operating at the frontline. Over more than a decade, MDTA became known for delivering high-level, scenario-based training across Australia and internationally.

Our methods have been shaped by real-world operational experience in high-risk environments, frontline security, anti-trafficking operations, and international deployments. This has allowed us to develop systems that are not theoretical, but grounded in what actually works under pressure.

As MDTA grew, our specialised training for professional sectors expanded significantly leading to the transition to Strategic Operations International (SOI), a name that better represents the scope, professionalism, and international reach of our services.

NEW - Live Online Training Options

While face-to-face training remains our preferred method of delivery, Strategic Operations International now offers professional live online training for organisations where location, operational commitments, or budget limitations make face-to-face delivery impractical.

Our online programs are delivered live through Google Meet. They are not pre-recorded courses. Participants receive direct instruction from an SOI facilitator and have the opportunity to engage, ask questions, and apply the training to their own professional environment.

Organisations can select from the following live online options:

• Situational Awareness (Optimal Situational Awareness) - 2 hours
• Conflict Management - 2 hours
• Situational Awareness and Conflict Management combined - 4 hours

Each program can be tailored to the organisation's operational environment, personnel roles, policies, and identified risks. Online sessions are capped at 20 participants to maintain a professional and engaging training experience. Organisations requiring training for more than 20 personnel can arrange additional sessions.

Important: Live online training does not include Physical Self Defence instruction or physical techniques. Physical skills training remains available through our face-to-face programs only.
